postheadericon Infertility Causes

There is nothing more wonderful for people to experience than the joy that accompanies the birth of a long hoped-for child. Mothers stare in wonder into the beautiful eyes of their newborn child, and fathers gaze proudly at mother and child alike. The joy of having a family is something that few should miss, but the sad truth is that infertility is far more common today than it ever has been. Infertility means that men cannot produce sperm that are able to fertilize an egg, or that women cannot produce eggs that will grow inside their womb.

There are many causes of infertility, as well as other problem with the reproductive organs that result in infertility. Certain chronic illnesses can cause the fertility problems, and even treatments for disorders can result in infertility. Certain medications will have a negative effect on the reproductive systems of men and women alike, and can often lead to fertility problems. Cancer treatments can lead to cancer fertility issues, or even certain STDs are known to cause infertility. There are dozens of different causes of infertility in men and women both, and it is important to know as much about these different causes to ensure that you can avoid them as much as possible.

Women

Most of the infertility problems that women experience are the result of problems with their ovulation cycle. When the woman cannot produce eggs, there is nothing for the sperm to fertilize and thus there is no chance of pregnancy. Women who have abnormal or irregular periods may find that there is something wrong with their reproductive organs. Some female birth control hormones can affect women’s fertility, and it may take a while for women to become fertile once more after they finish taking the birth control. Sometimes the problems are only temporary and disappear with time, but sometimes the problems are permanent.

The above causes are the most common infertility causes in women, but there are some other causes that are not as commonly found. Some women have blocked fallopian tubes that result from pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy surgery, or endometriosis. Some women have problems with their uterus, or uterine fibroids may prevent them from having children. Cancer treatment will often result in fertility problems, particularly when the cancer is located near the pelvis. All of these things contribute to make a woman unable to have a natural pregnancy.

Men

Men are sometimes born with conditions that cause their sperm to be affected negatively. Some men are genetically predisposed to have a lower sperm count or poor sperm motility, and this often causes infertility problems. Some men injure themselves in such a way as to cause problems with their reproductive organs, while other men experience infertility as a result of an illness. Cystic fibrosis is one of the most common causes of infertility in men, and there are a number of different things that contribute to making men infertile.

The main cause of male infertility is the faulty production of sperm by the testicles. When not enough sperm is produced, there are not enough to survive the long journey to fertilize the egg. Some men also have problems that affect the motility of the sperm, which is the sperm’s ability to make it all the way to the egg. Some sperm are shaped abnormally, or their structure is too weak to be able to penetrate the egg and fertilize it. Testicular cancer is another primary cause of male infertility, and treatments for prostate cancer will often damage the reproductive system beyond repair.

There are many things that can place men and women alike at risk of infertility. The age of men and women may cause their infertility problems, and health problems are always a major cause of fertility issues. Smoking, drinking, and taking drugs will affect the reproductive systems of men and women alike, often resulting in their inability to have children. Certain pesticides can have a negative effect on men’s reproductive system, while some STDs can prevent a woman from having children.

It is essential for both men and women to take care of their bodies if they are trying to have children. The ability to have children is a gift, and the body needs to be properly cared for if children are to be produced. Living healthy lifestyles, caring for your body, and preventing illness as much as possible is the best way to ensure that your body remains healthy and able to have children.

postheadericon Underage Drinking & Teen Drinking Prevention

Even a few years ago the scenario was different, but now one thing that is really moving the teenagers in the wrong direction is the habit of consuming alcohol. Consumption of alcohol is not bad if kept on check. But most of the time, this control is lost. And losing this control becomes bad for the person concerned especially if he or she is a teenager.

Teenage is that time when a person is going through both physical and mental changes. Many doors open in front of them about which they never knew of. And some of these doors are so shiny that few can escape the urge to see what is behind them. But these doors are somewhat like hotel California, you can come in but it is hard to check out.

Drinking is always restricted when you are underage. And that makes it irresistible for most teens to drink. But still this age bar is the most successful step taken towards prevention of teen drinking and has saved many lives on the roads.

Some other measures can also be taken. Raising the price of alcohol is one. It has been seen that raising the price of alcohol can help. Higher price of alcohol is indirectly proportional to the number of drinks taken, a research says. School based and family based programs should also be started. These programs help as the environment helps the boy or the girl to grow in an environment which is free of alcohol. Parents also play important role and it is up to the parents to make their child lead an alcohol free teenage.

Alcoholism at later life can lead to various problems and disorders. This takes a big form if a person starts drinking early in life. So it is better to avoid alcohol if possible.

postheadericon Skin care tips for winter

Our inner health is reflected by our beautiful skin, so we need to take good care of our skin according to the season as our skin reacts tremendously to different factors like the cold and the hot weather. As we all know that winter comes with a colder, windier and drier weather so our skin needs some extra help and protection otherwise the skin of different parts of our body will begin to become dry, chapped and crusty.

When the weather changes our skin care routine should be changed too, like we can use some oil based moisturizer rather than water based ones as a protective layer will be created by the oil that retains more moisture than a cream. Sunscreens can protect our skin from winter sun, combined with snow glare. The skin on our hands is thinner than on most parts of the body and as it has fewer oil glands it’s difficult to keep it moist during winter which can cause itching, cracking. To avoid this we can wear gloves (cotton) before wearing wool.  We should avoid wet gloves and socks as those can cause itching, cracking and irritation to our skin. We can place several Humidifiers throughout our home as those get more moisture in the air, which helps to prevent our skin from drying out.

Using petroleum jelly or glycerin for feet is good during winter and using exfoliates which helps any moisturizer to sink in faster and deeper by getting the dead skin off periodically is also very useful. Instead of using harsh pills, masks, and alcohol-based toners we can use cleansing milk, mild foaming cleanser, a toner without alcohol and clay based masks. After sometime in the cold, soaking in a hot bath feels great but it can lead to a loss of moisture by damaging the lipid barriers in the skin. We can get relief from itchy dry skin by taking a lukewarm bath with oatmeal or baking soda. In these ways we can protect our skin from the dryness, cracking and many other problems which winter brings with it.

postheadericon Obesity in children-how to overcome this?

Obesity in children is a growing concern that is not given anywhere near the amount of attention it should be given due to many people’s belief that if you ignore the problem it will eventually go away. Many individuals who are obese as children grow up to be obese as adults and this can cause many serious and in most cases life threatening illnesses and conditions.

Obesity means an excess amount of body fat. Childhood obesity is caused due to sedentary lifestyle, less exercise, consumption of high-calorie foods like pizza and burgers etc. Consumption of sugar-laden soft drinks may contribute to childhood obesity.

Physical inactivity of children is also considered to be a serious cause, and children who fail to engage in regular physical activity are at a greater risk of obesity. Childhood obesity is often the result of interplay between many genetic and environmental factors.

Exclusive breast-feeding and delaying introduction of solid foods is recommended for newborn infants for its nutritional and other beneficial effects. It may also protect against obesity in later life.

In early childhood, children should be given healthy, low-fat snacks and should be encouraged to take part in vigorous physical activity every day. Their television viewing should be limited. Older children can be taught to select healthy, nutritious foods and to develop good exercise habits. Avoid snacking or eating meals while watching TV, movies, and videos.

Another form of obesity treatment in children could be done by increasing physical activity. It can decrease, or at least slow the increase, fatty tissues in obese children. It is recommended that children get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.

Lifestyles and behaviors are established at an young age. It is important for parents and children to remain educated and focused on making long-term healthy lifestyle choices. Schools play a particularly critical role by establishing a safe and supportive environment with policies and practices that support healthy behaviors. Dietitians can help children understand healthy eating habits and how to implement them in their long-term diet.
